you would need your own server machine and server OS in order to do what the servers do, which is not simple PC or desktop computer
What are the requirements for creating a private email server?
Computer - Select Config depends on the load expected
Operating system - Window/ Unix or a freeware will do (Linux)
Email exchange software - Find a freeware for Linux
Internet connection - Leased Line
Firewall (Optional) - not sure, there should be a freeware
Domain name - Register a Domain name with some internet provider.
configure all the above, you get a private email server.
If you dont want to connect to outside world, you remove the last two items.
