I have a program openoffice.org that is asking for these particular details - incoming email server type (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) and outgoing email server name (SMPT) does anyone know what goes in here, my ISP is BT i am on broadband. I live in Leicester. (if that makes any difference)
Does anyone know how to set up an incoming and outgoing email server type.?
It depends on what server your using for yahoo mail you need upgrade to yahoo mail plus (@ $19.99 per year).to get the full pop3 service for access to Outlook,Incredimail, Thunderbird and others.
For more info on setting up your pop3 account see the link below.
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/cl...
* Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication.
There is a free program called "YPOPS" it's not approved by yahoo and is not fully compatible some users can get it to work but most can't.
If you have “yahoo.co.uk” address some users can get free pop forwarding see below.
Click “options” (top right) on your mail page%26gt;mail options%26gt;pop and forwarding%26gt;
Set up or edit pop %26amp; forwarding%26gt;type in the address you want to forward to and
click save.
* Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smpt.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 465.
Note: In order to be able to send emails from outlook and others through/to yahoo (pop3) you need to pay for a yahoo mail plus account. @ £11.99 per year.

Reply:Choose IMAP as your incoming email server and choose SMTP as your outgoing mail server.
